Gators' Tebow stirs up Heisman hype

GAINESVILLE - Even University of Florida coach Urban Meyer is joining
the hype, whether he meant to or not.
Meyer called Tebow's performance in Saturday night's 51-31 win at South
Carolina, "a Heisman performance, and I don't say that too often."
Tebow, named the Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday,
ran for a school-record five touchdowns and passed for two more against the Gamecocks. He tied the Southeastern Conference record for rushing touchdowns in a season (19) and is three away from matching the NCAA record for rushing TDs in a year by a quarterback. Chance Harridge of Air Force had 22 scores on the ground in 2002. |
