Near-Miss for Gators
Tebow rushes for 166 yards; Gators survive Rebels
BY DAVID JONES - FLORIDA TODAY
OXFORD, Miss. - Third-ranked Florida got a win for the first time in the
Magnolia State since 1994, as Tim Tebow set school quarterback records
with 27 rushes for 166 yards in the Gators' 30-24 win at Mississippi on
Saturday.
But maybe UF coach Urban Meyer explained it best when he said: "I'm
anxious to get on a plane and get out of here."
He should be. Florida has some issues to address in the coming days. The
secondary missed poorly on some tackles as the Rebels (1-3 overall, 0-2 in
the SEC) got 302 yards and two touchdowns from Seth Adams to make the
game interesting at the end. It got so tense that Tebow went to Meyer on the
sideline and the sophomore told him to let him win the game. Meyer
reluctantly gave in.
