Gators have work to do in defensive backfield

GAINESVILLE -- This being April, and not autumn, it's not prudent to panic
about what goes on between the goal lines for the defending national champions.
But as Saturday's Orange and Blue Debut (a k a the occasion formerly known
as the spring game) wore on, a reality emerged: 20 weeks from the Sept. 1 season opener against Western Kentucky, UF doesn't have cornerbacks who can cover Southeastern Conference receivers.
"We're battling," true freshman Ahmad Black said. "We've had ups and downs,
but we have talent and we can make plays. We know we need to get better." |
