Gator Women's Basketball - 4/18/07
Butler promises to work hard
Dave Curtis-Orlando Sentinel
GAINESVILLE -- Time will tell whether new Florida women's basketball
coach Amanda Butler can recruit the nation's top players, fill the O'Connell
Center, and make the Gators a champion. But Tuesday, the world learned
that Butler, no doubt, wants to try to resuscitate the floundering program.
"To say it's a dream come true," she said at her introductory press
conference, "just doesn't get there."
Such excitement has filled Butler, a 1995 UF grad, and her family since
Friday's announcement of her hiring as the ninth coach in program history.
Now comes the challenge -- turning women's basketball, the pimple on an
otherwise pristine Florida athletic program, into a gem.
