Florida's athletic director got an early jump on resurrecting Florida's women's basketball program by firing fifth-year head
coach Carolyn Peck Monday morning.
The announcement comes with Florida in the midst of its worst season in the program's 34-year history. The Gators have
lost a program-worst 13 straight games and are 6-20 overall and 0-11 in the SEC. |

top players, fill the O'Connell Center, and make the Gators a champion. But Tuesday, the world learned that Butler, no doubt, wants to try to resuscitate the floundering program.
"To say it's a dream come true," she said at her introductory press conference, "just doesn't get there."

The Florida Women's Basketball team will be participating in a Habitat for Humanity project this Saturday, August 25th.
The project is run through a branch of Habitat called Women Build and the team will be assisting with the building of the first of two houses in Southeast Gainesville. New Gator Head Coach, Amanda Butler, her staff, and the 2007- 2008 team will be on-site to help build the house for a well-deserving Gainesville family. |

Men's and Women's Basketball Fan Appreciation Day On Oct. 21
Doors will open at 2 pm and autographs for both teams will begin at 2:30 pm and continue for 90 minutes.
The women's team will then be introduced at 4 pm, followed by the men's team at 4:30 pm. Both teams will showcase
various drills and skills, as the women's team will conduct a three-point shoot out, while the men's team will scrimmage for fans.

coach in April, Amanda Butler called it a dream come true. Seven months later, she'd like to revise that statement a little, if you don't mind.
"Part of that is true," Butler said recently. "I have revised that in the past
six months to say that it is the beginning of a dream. Our dream will come true when we are actually cutting down nets and we are putting those crystal balls in the trophy case and have a lot to cheer for." |
