Florida's basketball team gained its first commitment of the 2008 class, as junior point guard Erving Walker announced
Friday that he will join the Gators.
A four-star recruit on rivals.com, the 5-6, 140-pound Walker, who plays for Christ the King High School in New York, made
his decision public while playing at the Academy National Invitational Tournament in Houston. |

UF adds to deep class with Vargas commitment

Despite losing seven players from two national championship teams, UF's
roster is beyond full heading into the next two years.
The latest addition is Eloy Vargas, a 6-foot-10 power forward from
Hollywood American Heritage High and the No. 10 player in the class of 2008, according to Rivals.com, who gave UF coach Billy Donovan a commitment late Wednesday night. |

Point guard picks Gators

Most UF basketball fans didn't take much comfort in point guard Taurean Green's decision to forgo his senior year in favor
of the NBA Draft.
Coveted basketball recruit Jai Lucas, however, saw Green's choice as an open door. On Monday, he walked through it.
"I've decided to come to the University of Florida," the 5-foot-10 point guard announced from Bellaire High in Houston.
Had Green stayed for another year, Lucas probably would not have selected the Gators.
