Ronnie Wilson Suspended For 1 Year - James To Sit Out 1st Game
Florida offensive lineman Ronnie Wilson has been suspended for the 2007 season and running back Brandon James is
suspended for Florida's first game because of separate non-football incidents.
According to a Gainesville police report, Wilson spit on and slapped Francis Fuller during a scuffle at XS nightclub early
on the morning of April 5. Fuller then waited for Wilson to leave the club. According to the report, Fuller drove behind
Wilson and called 911 to report the incident in the club. After Wilson realized he was being followed, he turned into a
parking lot, stopped his car, got out and pulled an AK-47 from the trunk. He then fired a shot into the air, according to the
report.
Brandon James was arrested along with Florida basketball player Brandon Powell for buying less than 20 grams of
marijuana during a reverse sting by Gainesville law enforcement.

Twenty-six of the 27 prospects who signed with the Gators in February are enrolled at UF in the Summer B semester, which
began Monday.
The only player not yet in school is former Lakeland defensive tackle John Brown, who needs to pass one more high school
course to become academically eligible to enroll at Florida.
Many of the freshman class are expected to start competing for playing time when two-a-days begin in early August.

Gators lose Powell after tumultuous freshman season
By KARL HYPPOLITE - Alligator Staff Writer
After receiving little playing time last season, guard Brandon Powell has decided to transfer from UF.
Powell appeared in 23 games last season and averaged just 1.6 ppg in his lone season as a Gator.
Powell had been dissatisfied with his playing time throughout the season, leading to several conversations with Coach
Billy Donovan. Monday morning, Donovan announced that Powell was planning to transfer from the university.

UF athletics program remains among nation's best
THE GATORS ARE RANKED SIXTH IN THE NATION.
By DANNY KLEIN - Alligator Staff Writer
When UF won back-to-back national titles on the floor of the Georgia Dome last April, it became the first program to hold
the men's basketball and football titles in the same academic year.
This feat, coupled with the success of Gators in all athletic fields, has led the program to receive some extra recognition.
The UF Athletics Program finished sixth in the 2006-07 Sports Academy Directors' Cup competition, marking UF's 24th
consecutive top-10 finish.
"Titles by both men's basketball and football certainly led the highlights of this season for the Gators," Athletics Director
Jeremy Foley said. "A total of 11 teams among the top 10 showed the strong performances by several of our teams."

2008 Football Contributions Increase
The University Athletic Association and Gator Boosters, Inc. recently reviewed the program's financial obligations, current
revenue and increasing operating expenses, including the addition of the seventh home football game. Other peer
institutions' per seat contributions were surveyed and it was determined that the majority of the seating areas within Ben
Hill Griffin Stadium are considerably below the market price. This review resulted in a proposal that was approved by the
Gator Booster Board of Directors on April 14, 2007 to increase the per seat requirements within club levels and all of the
luxury areas which are part of the Gator Booster system, beginning with the 2008 Gator Football season.

Donovan eyes depth, size to rebuild
By NICK ZACCARDI - Alligator Writer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - In the last month, the focus for Billy Donovan has turned from the Orlando Magic to an overused "R"
word.
Rebuilding.
"We're really in a situation this year where depth - without question - is an issue for us, size is an issue for us," Donovan
said during the Southeastern Conference men's basketball summer teleconference Monday, three months before
preseason practice begins for the two-time defending national champions. "You're not going to lose five guys in an NBA
Draft and Lee Humphrey and be able to come right back and replace all that. ... We've lost as much as anybody has lost
in the country."

Gators, Meyer face uncharted territory
Quarterback Tim Tebow has no backup, and coach Urban Meyer's team is full of players who spent more
time on the sideline than the field last season. But many still expect the team to win the SEC.
Tim Tebow wasn't at Southeastern Conference football media days. He should have been. The young quarterback
charged with leading the defending champion Florida Gators is all anybody wanted to talk about.

Gators ready to begin camp after tough off-season
By NICK ZACCARDI - Alligator Staff Writer
HOOVER, Ala. - Maybe three national championships in a little over a year have spoiled The Gator Nation.
Back home in Gainesville - amid the autograph and photo requests, pats on the back and general well wishes - one
question comes for those on the football roster.
"People ask us all the time when we're on campus, 'Are we going to repeat?'" UF safety Tony Joiner said. "I just tell them
this: We're trying to get back to Atlanta (the site of the SEC Championship Game) this year."
