Encore, encore!
From one rematch to another: Gators meet Ohio State Monday night. UF starts fast in 2nd half, coasts into final 76-66
Dave Curtis | Sentinel Staff Writer

ATLANTA -- For a third straight time in a Final Four game, the Florida Gators' victory party started remarkably soon.

Nine minutes still remained on the clock when forward Corey Brewer started his pogo-stick routine near midcourt, bouncing
in place with glee. Chest bumps would follow -- Chris Richard with Taurean Green, Brewer with Al Horford. And what would
a UF fiesta be without Joakim Noah enjoying a made basket by pounding his right fist against the "d" and "a" on his Florida
jersey.

Gators dethrone Georgia for first SEC title since 1989
By RACHEL ROBINS - Alligator Writer

For the first time since 1989, the UF gymnastics team captured the Southeastern Conference Championship on Saturday.

It wasn't perfect, but it was enough to knock the crown off Georgia, who held the title since 2004.

"It's wonderful because once again -- showing what we have been saying all along as a coaching staff -- it's a changing of
the guard," UF coach Rhonda Faehn said. "We feel what we are doing here in Gainesville is something special."

Gators dance their way to legendary status
Orlando Sentinel - Mike Bianchi
ATLANTA -- Their last dance together was the most elegant and emotional of all.

Fred and Ginger couldn't have done it any better. Nor could Gene Kelly.

This was "Dancing in the Reign."

The Florida Gators, the refreshingly unselfish team that played together, conveyed together and then decided to stay
together, pulled off the most legendary feat in state sports history Monday night and, in the process, wrote their names
alongside the greatest college basketball teams to ever play the game.

Florida repeats as national champions
By EDDIE PELLS
AP National Writer for Miami Herald

ATLANTA -- A long, tough season ended with a Gator chomp again. Mission accomplished for Florida. The Gators were too
much to handle once again Monday night, keeping their stranglehold on the college basketball world with an 84-75 victory
over Ohio State for their second straight national championship.

Al Horford had 18 points and 12 rebounds, Taurean Green had 16 and Greg Oden's 25 points and 12 rebounds weren't
enough to stop the Gators (35-5) from completing the quest they set upon when all the starters delayed their NBA plans for
a try at another title.

Hard-hitting Spikes makes spring impact
By BRIAN STEELE Alligator Staff Writer & Tim Casey / Alligator Staff

Brandon Siler and Earl Everett? Your time has passed.

Now, welcome to the spotlight, Brandon Spikes.

The sophomore linebacker is a headache-inducing, Shawne Merriman-type monster, and those are just words used by his
teammates.

Improving Ingram tapped to become football's face

By MIKE MCCALL & Tim Casey / Alligator Staff

"I think we're going to go with that," UF coach Urban Meyer said. "It's not official, but it's looking pretty good, though."

Ingram would follow in the footsteps of last year's leader, wide receiver Jemalle Cornelius, and the inaugural face,
cornerback Vernell Brown.

Gators have work to do in defensive backfield
Dave Curtis - Orlando Sentinel Writer

GAINESVILLE -- This being April, and not autumn, it's not prudent to panic about what goes on between the goal lines for
the defending national champions.

But as Saturday's Orange and Blue Debut (a k a the occasion formerly known as the spring game) wore on, a reality
emerged: 20 weeks from the Sept. 1 season opener against Western Kentucky, UF doesn't have cornerbacks who can
cover Southeastern Conference receivers.

Butler promises to work hard
Dave Curtis-Orlando Sentinel
GAINESVILLE -- Time will tell whether new Florida women's basketball coach Amanda Butler can recruit the nation's top
players, fill the O'Connell Center, and make the Gators a champion. But Tuesday, the world learned that Butler, no doubt,
wants to try to resuscitate the floundering program.

"To say it's a dream come true," she said at her introductory press conference, "just doesn't get there."

Such excitement has filled Butler, a 1995 UF grad, and her family since Friday's announcement of her hiring as the ninth
coach in program history. Now comes the challenge -- turning women's basketball, the pimple on an otherwise pristine
Florida athletic program, into a gem.

UF takes 3rd in NCAAs, UGA wins title
By RACHEL ROBINS - Alligator Writer

Going into Thursday and Friday, UF's gymnastics team was undefeated. Its only blemish was a tie against Georgia in
Athens, Ga. earlier in the season.

Then during the NCAA Championships, the Gators succumbed to the hype surrounding it and the Bulldogs proved why
they are the queens of collegiate gymnastics.

In the Super Six, Georgia successfully defended its national title and placed first. It's the eighth NCAA Championship for
the Bulldogs.
