All is well again for the Gators
Dave Curtis | Orlando Sentinel Staff Writer
GAINESVILLE -- Joakim Noah was dunking the ball and thumping his chest. Florida's three guards each sank three 3-
pointers. For the game's final 19:09, visiting Kentucky played catch-up.
For a day, at least, everything in Gator basketball was good again.

Florida makes it a 3-peat
UF rolls through the SEC tourney, winning by an average of nearly 20 points.
Dave Curtis | Orlando Sentinel Staff Writer
ATLANTA -- Sitting at his locker, with another Southeastern Conference tournament title trophy sitting across the room,
Florida senior Chris Richard started talking NCAA Tournament.
In a few hours, he and his teammates would learn their seed, opponent, and path back here to the Georgia Dome, site of
the Final Four. A lot of it, he said, would be irrelevant.

Meyer assistants get raises
Dave Curtis - Orlando Sentinel Writer
GAINESVILLE -- Florida football coach Urban Meyer's assistants earned substantial pay raises after helping lead the
Gators to a national championship, contracts obtained Wednesday showed.
The nine on-field full-time assistants, including UF's three coordinators and associate head coach Doc Holliday, will
combine to earn $382,000 more in 2007 than they pocketed in 2006.
The pay bumps served as rewards for past performance and incentive for the assistants to remain in their positions.

Gators rally for 112-69 win
Shots finally start falling against Jackson State after a sluggish first half.
Dave Curtis | Sentinel Staff Writer
NEW ORLEANS -- By the second half's first few minutes, all was well in Gator Nation again. Florida was ending each
possession with an easy shot, the overmatched guys on the other side were struggling just to take a shot.
The start of UF's national title defense, it was certain, wouldn't double as the biggest upset in NCAA tournament history.

Sweet Success
By JENNA MARINA - Alligator Staff Writer
NEW ORLEANS -- Forward Joakim Noah is taking every game in the NCAA Tournament personally. He plans to stand up
to anyone who dares derail his plans to repeat.
"It's yours against mine," he said. "Your heart against my heart. Your livelihood against my livelihood, and I don't want to go
anywhere."
The Gators are staying put for the time being after defeating ninth-seeded Purdue 74-67 in the second round Sunday
afternoon.

BY LESLEY CLARK - MiamiHerald.com
WASHINGTON --For the second time in a year, President Bush welcomed a national championship team from the
University of Florida to the White House.
On Monday, it was the Gators football team getting the chance to bask in the limelight on the South Lawn and present the
president with a football and a jersey (Bush 43). Last April, the men's basketball team made the trip.

UF 2 steps from rare repeat
David Whitley | Sentinel Columnist
ST. LOUIS -- After all his team has endured, Joakim Noah was just too tired to spell it out.
He grabbed a freshly minted T-shirt, paraded through a crowd of orange-and-blue admirers and pointed to the lettering.
"See what it says?" Noah yelled. "C-H-ampions!"
Sunday it was the NCAA Midwest Regional. Next up, another national c-h-ampionship for the University of Florida?
The Gators beat Oregon 85-77 to advance to the Final Four in Atlanta. They will play UCLA on Saturday night in a rematch
of last year's title game.

Meyer: Defense lacks leaders
By BRIAN STEELE - Alligator Staff Writer
After losing nine of 11 starters on defense and several top offensive contributors, the UF football team is looking for some
new leaders.
Thus far in spring practice, the Gators haven't found them.
"We're very poor right now," UF coach Urban Meyer said on defensive leadership. "We're not a good team. ... The
combined junior and senior class is less than what we had in the senior class last year."
