The woman who made less than $2 an hour had an idea, and the University of Florida's football coaches listened.

At a meeting in 1980, Florida coach Charley Pell and assistants Joe Kines and Sonny McGraw gave their full attention to
the minimum-wage secretary they'd hired the previous year to keep track of Florida's recruiting efforts. Betty Ling had
dreamed up a new way to impress visiting prospects by imagining what might sway her to choose Florida over another
school.

needed a moment to compose himself before he could say anything to the estimated 50,000 fans who had gathered to

Fifty-foot smoking rule extended to all UF campus buildings

The University of Florida is expanding the coverage of its outdoor smoking restrictions to include all campus buildings.

Effective today, smoking is prohibited within 50 feet of every campus building.

Ticket prices going up

The price for a seat in The Swamp has gone up.

The UF ticket office announced Tuesday a slight increase in season and single-game ticket prices for the 2007 football
season.
